This is the story of two students, Valeriya and Nadiya, and we recorded it in Lviv, where they came after fleeing Kharkiv. We talked with them in a former photo studio, which now is a center for women with children who are escaping from war.

On February 24th, 2022, Ukrainians woke up from explosions in their peaceful cities. The full-scale war that Russia started against Ukraine has been going on for six months now.

From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, the team of the “War. Stories from Ukraine” project has been documenting testimonies and experiences of people who live in Ukraine, surviving and helping others to survive.
